Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus - Literally Don't!

Hello, Fellow Picture Book Lovers! So I've come across this one very unique book called "Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus" by Mo Willems. This book is unlike any other picture book I've read because the character or should I say the Pigeon is speaking with the reader, yes, with us!

The book starts off with a bus driver who asks the reader to look after his bus while he's away for a while and gives us a warning to not let the Pigeon drive the bus. The pigeon overheard what the bus driver said. So as soon as the bus driver was out of the book, the pigeon immediately took the spotlight. In the chapters, he tries to persuade the readers in many ways to let him drive the bus.

The more the readers flip the page, the more the readers can see how frustrated the Pigeon is in not succeeding in driving the bus. He would even do many bargains to let him drive the bus such as letting us be his friend, giving the readers some money, and gaslighting the readers by telling them how driving the bus is the Pigeon's dream. But despite all his attempts, he would not be allowed to drive the bus. A few minutes later the bus driver arrived and thanked the readers for not letting the pigeon drive the bus. The pigeon was sad because his dream was shattered, but not for long as he found a new vehicle of his dreams to drive.

This book is very interesting because it engages with the readers making us feel more included with the story, and the sense of humor and comical attitude of the book along with the simplicity of the illustration itself makes it refreshing to see.  The books purpose itself is just for entertainment and laughs and it can also teach children the few stages of emotion that the pigeon goes trough while being told 'No'. If you're asking the other moral of the story, well, just don't let the pigeon drive a bus! But if you are curious and want to read more on the book for yourself, you can watch the read aloud version on this youtube link down below:
